To prolong the life of cutting mats, it’s important to follow these tips. Each time you use your cutting mat, flip and turn the mat so the die blades are not always cutting through the mat in the same spots.

• Each cutting mat can withstand hundreds of cuts on both sides. When you begin to notice that the die is not cutting all the way through, it’s time to purchase a new cutting mat. Keep in mind, that rag dies will have more wear and tear on your cutting mats. In this case, always have an extra cutting mat on hand.
• Use different dies on each sized cutting mat so the die blades are not always cutting through the mat in the same spots.
• When purchasing a die and cutting mat, order an extra cutting mat so you always have one on hand.
• For appliqué dies, use smaller sized mats to cover just the shape you’re cutting. As long as the desired shape is covered, you are able to use a different sized cutting mat than your die board.
