Follow along below to see how easy it is to cut and sew one of the blocks.
Start with the GO! Quarter Square Triangle - 6" die. Cut 11" strips from two different fabrics.
Fan fold the strip across the die to cut up to six layers of fabric. Position your fabric on the die so that the selvedge edge of the fabric is in line with the label on the die and the cutter handle. This ensures that the lengthwise grain is traveling perpendicular to the roller.
Cover the die with the cutting mat and roll through the cutter.
Slide the mat off the die to reveal your triangles!
Cut triangles with your second color too!
Choose a different fabric and use the GO! Square - 6" finished die to cut two squares per block. Fan fold 7" strips across the die. Position your fabric on the die so that the selvedge edge of the fabric is in line with the label on the die and the cutter handle. This ensures that the lengthwise grain is traveling perpendicular to the roller.
Cover the die with the cutting mat and roll through the cutter.
For the appliqué parts, choose different fabric. Apply fusible according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the fabric over the GO! Snowflake die.
Place the cutting mat over the die and roll through the cutter.
Slide the mat off the die to see the perfect snowflake.
Do the same with the GO! Cardinal.
Slide the mat off the die to reveal the cardinal.
Sew the triangles together to create quarter squares.
Sew the quarter squares to the 6" squares to create a 4 patch block of squares and quarter squares.
Peel the paper backing off the appliqué shapes and place them on the squares.
Iron down the shape to hold before using your appliqué technique of choice to sew down.
Check out the final block!
