Quick Overview

First published in the 1920s under other names, this quilt design became popular in the 20s and 30s. As with other traditional designs, super-accurate cutting with AccuQuilt dies makes piecing a piece of cake. Twenty plates form a circle. Use 5 plates for quarter circle fans.

Storage: Store Studio dies in AccuQuilt die storage cases or storage racks.

Die Tips:

  • With some fabrics, after cutting, a thread or two will remain where die blades meet. Snip threads with scissors.
  • Use cutting plastic that matches size of each die.
  • For best results, cut with die blades running under roller at an angle. Do not cut with blades parallel to roller.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to edge of shape, not edge of die board.
  • Some dies feature specially designed corners to aid in alignment and pre-cutting.
  • For fast applique, apply fusible web to fabrics, then cut shapes with dies.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.

Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller to clean lint and thread from dies. After each use, with the die pick provided with the cutter, remove any threads imbedded between blades and foam. It's normal for threads to get caught where blades meet in a die. Remove with tweezers or die pick. Die blades never need to be sharpened.

Warranty: AccuQuilt Studio dies are guaranteed for one year.

I have not had time to do a dresden quilt but with this die I can absolutely complete the project I've always loved but not been confident to do!!

Great fun but more difficult than the pointed blades Review by CLM
Overall Rating

So, the pointed blades are pretty easy to use as long as you are careful with your seam allowances. These curves, though, having them all cut is fabulous but I am having trouble getting consistent curves without a template for freezer paper.

Love it! Review by Angela

I love the style of dresden plates but did not like the manual cutting. Accuquilt saved my sanity with this die and now I'm happily cutting away with ease!

I bought this quite awhile ago and I love it. I finished a quilt with it and it is all done in 30's fabric. Looks really nice and easy to do. Can't go wrong if you buy it.

Fear curves no more! Review by Angela

I love the dresden plate designs but was not under any circumstance going to even TRY to cut them out with a rotary cutter. I saw these and immediately plunked them into my shopping cart!

Amazing Review by Linda

The dresden die is so amazing!
It is so easy and fast to get all of the dresden blades cut now.
I can start sewing them today rather than days later.
The little notches is a great bonus too.

Excellent die Review by Linda

Dresden plate quilts were very popular during the 1920's and 30's. This die makes it super easy to make any of the variations when used the pointed Dresden plate.
