Quilters Descend on Fremont for AccuQuilt’s Let’s GO! Quilting Retreat

(FREMONT, Neb., June 15, 2011) – AccuQuilt, the leader in fabric cutting solutions for quilting and fabric crafts, hosted 73 quilt enthusiasts at the first ever Let’s GO! Quilting Retreat June 9-11. The retreat was held at Country Traditions, a local independent quilt shop, in Fremont, Neb. While there, quilters were treated to three fun-filled days of cutting the GO!® way, sewing, laughing and meeting the AccuQuilt family.

The retreat sold out only four days after being announced in February. Since then, the attendees had been anxiously waiting to come to the inaugural Let’s GO! retreat. Attendees came from all across the country. In total, 27 states were represented ranging from Washington to Texas to Massachusetts.

The first morning of the retreat, attendees were greeted with a breakfast mixer to get to know each other and their retreat teachers for the weekend. The rest of the day was spent learning GO! fabric cutting tips and how to sew the challenging Drunkard’s Path block. “The Drunkard’s Path block was chosen for the retreat project because curves are challenging to sew and cut for quilters. With the help of the GO!® and GO! Baby™ Fabric Cutters, that pain point is taken away,” said Linda Pumphrey, AccuQuilt National Sales Manager. “I was able to show them a simple and almost fool-proof way to cut the shapes using our cutters.”

Most of Friday was spent at the AccuQuilt office where they were delighted to have a special meet-and-greet and book signing with national quilting icon Eleanor Burns. Burns was there to perform her “Quilt Blocks on American Barns” stage show at the 2nd Annual AccuQuilt Barn Quilt Unveiling ceremony that afternoon. The retreaters were able to attend the unveiling and participate in the barbecue lunch and facility tours with the rest of the over 300 guests that came for the unveiling.

The last day of the retreat the attendees were gifted with an exclusive GO! die in the shape of a barn. They made a small wall hanging using the new die. When the retreat ended they were not ready to leave and asked over and over when the next retreat would be. “Thanks to everyone at AccuQuilt for the great retreat! I learned a variety of new ways to use the products and am anxious to get my sew on,” said retreat attendee Gladys Insko of West Liberty, Iowa.

“What an incredible weekend of fun with the fantastic folks of AccuQuilt and Country Traditions! You just can't top Eleanor Burns, the Barn Quilt Unveiling party, and three fun-filled days of quilting frenzy at the GO! retreat,” said retreat attendee Deonn Stott of Heber Valley, Utah. “I learned so much and loved making instant friends with 73 quilters from across the country who share my passion.”
