Overview

This GO! Clamshell-4" Finished die cuts the perfect small clamshell shape for quilts, pillows, and table runners. This die is compatible with the GO! Baby, GO!, GO! Big, and Studio cutters, and can cut multiple pieces of fabric at a time. Notches are included on all curved sides of this die for easy piecing.

Use GO! dies with your GO! and GO! Baby Fabric Cutters to cut precise, accurate shapes in just seconds.

Features and Benefits:

  • Cut so much more in less time—Cut up to 6 layers of 100% cotton fabric at once
  • Easiest to use—Simply place die on cutter, then fabric and cutting mat on top
  • Get accurate cuts every time—No slipping rulers or mistakes
  • Create quilts you never thought you would—AccuQuilt makes cutting curvy classic quilt patterns a snap
  • Save fabric with Two Tone Foam—Get more out of your fabric by placing it only over the shape you want to cut
  • Safe to use—No blades come anywhere near your fingers
  • No more math—Geometric shapes are designed with an accurate 1/4" seam allowance in the design
  • Quilt more, clip less—No more clipping all those dog-eared corners
  • Quick and easy applique—Apply fusible web to fabric prior to cutting

Storage: Organize GO! dies with AccuQuilt GO! Die Storage Rack (55115).

Care & Maintenance: Use adhesive roller to clean lint and thread from dies. After each use, with the die pick provided with the cutter, remove any threads imbedded between blades and foam. It's normal for threads to get caught where blades meet in a die. Remove with tweezers or die pick. Die blades never need to be sharpened.

Die Tips:

  • With some fabrics, after cutting, a thread or two will remain where die blades meet. Snip threads with scissors.
  • Use cutting mats that matches size of each die.
  • For best results, cut with die blades running under roller at an angle. Do not cut with blades parallel to roller.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align fabric to edge of shape, not edge of die board.
  • Some dies feature specially designed corners to aid in alignment and pre-cutting.
  • For fast applique, apply fusible web to fabrics, then cut shapes with dies.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.

Warranty: AccuQuilt GO! dies are guaranteed for one year.

    missing Clamshell pattern

I just purchased the 4" clamshell die and it doesn't come with a pattern! Every other Accuquilt die I have purchased came with a basic pattern to help you get started using the die. All the online Accuquilt free patterns feature the 8" clamshell die. Where can I get a pattern for the 4" die that details yardage, etc. I'm very disappointed!

    Absolutely wonderful

This was the first die I purchased, in fact this die was what finally convinced me to buy an Accuquilt Go. I knew I wanted to make a large clam shell quilt and when I saw this die I was sold!. I've cut hundreds of clam shells from 5" charm packs with this die in very little time and would have taken me days or weeks if I had to do it by hand. Worth every penny!

    Difficult to sew

I purchased the 4" Clamshell to make a cute Mermaid Snuggle Tail for my granddaughter thinking it would be easy and look like scales of a fish. Boy, was I wrong !! After several tries and watching videos that were zero help I ended up creating my own way of getting the look I had intended. I made a template to press the curved edge then edge stitched the Clamshells and the project was a success. I really wish that some good instructions had been included with this die.

    Fast easy cutting curves

I have always stayed away from blocks with curves.

This die produces great cut curves and make sewing so much easier

Tricky at first but fun outcome

These were TRICKY to get into a sewing "groove" but after a few rows and some practice clamshells my wall quilt turned out awesome! Not really for beginning quilters. It worked well with a charm pack but there is quite a bit of waste using a charm pack. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out how to sew these together but even those were just ok--good to watch but not the best out there. The best learning tool was to just dive in with some practice shells and PRESS after sewing EVERY.SINGLE.SHELL--vertical seams open and curved seams downward--time consuming but worth the outcome and important to get proper shape. USE the notches to line up seams and half-way points....I tried to fudge it at first but eventually the notches became my best friend.

    One of My Favorites

The clam shell die is one of my favorite dies and I'm always on the lookout for new ways to use this fun shape. I've had my AccuQuilt GO since it was introduced, well a few months after; and of all the dies I've collected the clam shell has become one of my go to shapes when I need something distinct. True it isn't the easiest shape to sew, but with patience it can really make your project shine. I love it!

Best way to make a Clamshell Quilt

I would not attempt to make a Clamshell Quilt without this die. The die gives you pieces that are all cut the same and the notches make it so easy to line up and sew the clamshells together.
