I bought this to help write patterns. This is great for seeing how something would look in different fabrics or if you oriented the blocks a different way. Has a great library of existing blocks. I even figured out how to upload moda fabrics into the program from the manufacturer website. Does not write a pattern for you, but does provide good visual aids to make design decisions that don't waste fabric or a lot of time. I am not sure about the fabric requirements given though...for example it had me buying 9 yards of background fabric for a large lap quilt that was not even mostly made of the background. I will still do my own fabric requirements math. Glad I bought this.

I love this product. I especially like that you can scan in your fabrics and use them within your pattern to check color placement.

I originally had the EQ6 software and upgraded to EQ7. One upgrade that's nice is the ability to edit photos. No need for editing in one program, saving and then bringing it into EQ7. Also they added a tool so you now have the ability to draw curving flying geese. These arcs or curvy lines can even change in width. Another upgrade I really like is how they changed the serendipity tool. Now, for example, you can take a block and see how it would look in a star pattern. Or you can take part of one block to make a totally different block without having to draw it yourself. So many new possibilities you'll have trouble stopping to actually make the quilt!

I love being able to lay out everything and then by scanning in my fabrics try out color placement. With version 7 you can do so much with pictures which I am just beginning to play with. Overall it is a great tool for any quilter.

Wonderful software and extremely responsive customer support. I've had EQ software since version 4 and it just keeps getting better. EQ7 includes graphic capabilities that you'd normally need to look for in a photo/graphics program, but now this is integrated into EQ7. We are now starting to see crossover with GO-cut designs being created in EQ software, and this should increase with the agreements between EQ and AccuQuilt. If you don't have EQ, it may now be the time to take the leap into a whole new (and better) world of design capability!
