Gibney, New AccuQuilt Marketing Director, to Lead Push for Innovative, Education-Supported Quilting and Fabric Cutting Tools

(FREMONT, Neb. – August 31, 2011) AccuQuilt, the world’s leading maker of fabric cutters for quilting and fabric crafts, announced the appointment of Lynn Gibney to the position of marketing director, a fitting match for the 20-year veteran fabric crafter, designer, creative director, marketing manager and 13-year employee of AccuQuilt's parent company.

“We’ve been privileged to have Lynn on the team since the birth of AccuQuilt, and a number of years before that,” said Steve Nabity, AccuQuilt’s president and CEO. “When it comes to the business of quilting, she knows what she’s doing. She is largely responsible for turning AccuQuilt into a trendsetter in the quilting world, and it will be fun to see what she comes up with next.”

During her 13 years with the company, which has manufactured premier cutting products for the quilting, craft and education markets among others, Gibney served as designer, creative director and marketing manager. She oversaw the production of all marketing materials, and was responsible for or instrumental in many of AccuQuilt’s innovative marketing activities, including a unique color palette that became a benchmark for the quilting industry, cutting-edge social media marketing, design of the company’s mobile media app, and first-in-industry website innovations.

Prior to joining AccuCut in 1998, Gibney was a graphic designer and team manager at First Brands Corporation, a Fortune 500 consumer products company in Danbury, Conn., where she handled brands such as Glad®, Gladlock®, STP® and ScoopAway®. Gibney holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from State University of New York (SUNY) at Purchase.

“I love the quilting business, and this is a good fit. I’m thrilled to be entrusted with the AccuQuilt brand and our role in the industry’s shift from rotary cutters to die cutters,” said Gibney, who remembers sitting in front of her grandmother’s television as a child, using scissors to cut shapes for fabric crafts. “We are passionate about bringing fun, education and extreme efficiency to quilters to make their quilting experiences more fulfilling. Watch for exciting things yet to come.”
