Every year we come together to celebrate that person who we really look up to, the person cheering us on in the crowd, the one who protects and loves and keeps us on the straight and narrow.
Dad.
So come on! Let’s make something special, and because we are all busy, something we can make quick!!!
I started by purchasing an apron from the store. You can find so many shapes and sizes and colors to personalize your special Dad.

Next I pulled out my AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter, the GO! Carefree Alphabet Uppercase Set, some scraps of Hotfix Adhesive and of course, fabric!
Start by deciding what you are going to put on the apron. I went with a simple “DAD” for mine. But maybe you have a Papa, or a Pop, Daddy, Baba, Papi or maybe even a Big Daddy in your home. Go with what suits your family the best.
Cut your fabric and Hotfix into 4” squares and fuse the Hotfix according to the manufacturer’s directions. You will need one square for each letter.
Lay each square fabric side down on the letter. Now, be careful here. Many times when creating an applique with AccuQuilt the directions will say fusible side down. BUT NOT NOW!!!! The letter blades are mirror image and you have to put the fabric (right side) down on the die to get it to be the correct direction after cutting.

Lay your apron on the ironing board. Peel the backing off the fusible and lay the letters on your fabric. Center the letters and fuse them to the apron, again follow the manufacturer’s directions (they know what they are talking about).

If you have an embroidery machine, AccuQuilt has downloads for the dies you can use to stitch them on. If not, no worries! You have options. Unless you have a straight stitch only machine. Then you only have a straight stitch option.
Check out your machine for a zig zag or satin stitch and use that to stitch all around your letters. Don’t forget, some letters have a raw edge on the inside too that will need to be stitched.

All that is left is to wrap the apron up with some new BBQ tools and food to grill. Then sit back and enjoy as your Father Figure grills everyone a delicious dinner and keeps his clothes clean while doing so!!
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!!
