Introducing the New GO! Sewing Machine Die

Meet June’s Die to Try – the GO! Sewing Machine! This applique die is sure to have you stitchin’ up projects left and right in no time. From quilts to wall hangings, from sewing room décor to embellishing shirts and jackets, this die is sure to get a workout, so let’s take an up-close look at what makes it “sew” special.

The GO! Sewing Machine die is an applique die that will work with any GO! cutter. The seven pieces on the die would be time consuming and tedious to cut by hand, making you think twice about cutting very many of them, but with the die it’s a snap. The assembled size of this little cutie is 7” x 6 1/8”, perfect for a wide variety of projects. Since this die is designed for fusible applique, you simply apply some iron-on fusible to the back of your fabric and you’re off and running, cutting up to 4 fused layers of cotton at a time.

This die is fat quarter friendly, but it’s also great for scraps, including your scraps of already fused fabric. Once cut, you can fuse these shapes onto your project and finish it off with a straight or decorative stitch, or quilt right over the top to finish it off. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll get the added value of free, downloadable outline embroidery for these shapes in your choice of satin, blanket and motif stitches.

But hold on, the fun doesn’t have to stop there! You can cut a wide variety of materials with all GO! dies, including this one. Let your imagination soar as you cut craft foam, wool, felt, denim and even leather and vinyl. Card stock is no problem either, and this die would be great for making decorations to share on your next quilting retreat.

Ever since we decided to introduce this die, we’ve been cooking up dozens of ideas for it in our quilting brains, so let’s look at some of the wonderful projects that our creative designers have dreamed up for this die, and all of these projects are available as free, downloadable patterns on our website.

GO! Sewing in the Garden Throw Quilt

This delightful pattern by Stephanie Jacobson of Steph Jacobson Designs uses solids by Moda to create a fun “quilty” take on the classic Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt. The oversized hexis are simple to create and sew on your machine using the GO! Hexagon-4½” Sides (4¼” Finished) die and GO! Half Hexagon-4½” Sides (4¼” Finished) die. The pattern includes easy-to-follow directions on putting this entire project together, and your finished quilt will be “sew” adorable!

GO! Sew On Time

If you’re looking for a fun no-sew project to spruce up your creative space, then look no further! How cute is this clock, designed by Brianna Roberts of Sew Cute and Quirky using Benartex fabrics. You’ll need a few unique supplies for this one, including a clock face place and clock hands kit. This project is such a fun way to showcase a favorite fabric and to really make your space your own. Besides the GO! Sewing Machine die, you’ll want to use the GO! Classic 2” Numbers & Symbols die.

GO! My Happy Place Wall Hanging

I have to admit that this pattern is way up at the top of my quilting to-do list! This statement piece using the GO! Sewing Machine die along with the GO! Classic Alphabet-2” Finished die, set off perfectly by partial blocks made with the GO! LeMoyne Star-9” Finished die. The perfect finishing touch for this project is the border that looks like stitches. This weekend project designed by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting will come together quickly and be the perfect touch to add to any quilter’s happy sewing place.

GO! Peach of a Machine Cover and Caddy

Your sewing machine works hard for you, so treat it to a spiffy new cover and add a matching caddy to your work space with this fun project that starts with a Quilt-As-You-Go Sewing Machine Cover & Caddy kit! This is a fun project to add a fun spark to your creative space, especially when you embellish it with the GO! Sewing Machine die! Terri Vanden Bosch of Lizard Creek Quilting designed this scrappy happy project – just add fabric!

As I mentioned earlier, there are free, downloadable machine embroidery outlines available for you to use to finish your shapes off if you have an embroidery machine, but we also have some fun and creative options that are available for you to purchase and download as well!
