Hi, I'm Bea from Beaquilter again. I'm here to show you a cute and quick little pincushion I made when I used two dies from the NEW GO! Qube Specialty Set - Serendipity by Edyta Sitar.
I was so thrilled when I got this set! There's so many different things you can do with it! To start off with, I saw the small 5" Ohio star block insert and thought it would make a cute pincushion. I started with scraps of batiks from Island Batik - just a green and a light brown. I wanted the pincushion to be opposite on the front and back, so I cut out 5 squares of each color

and 16 EACH of the green and light brown - they are TINY- LOVE IT :)

Here they are all laid out, I love how tiny they are, SEW CUTE!

Then I began sewing together the triangles into QST units. I LOVE how the dog ears are already cut off! (8 sets total)

Then I sewed together the blocks, with one being opposite the other!

Then right sides together I sewed around the perimeter on all 4 sides leaving an opening on one side and I trimmed the corners before turning inside out.

When turning it inside out, I use a wooden dowel to poke into the corners AND I iron the whole thing flat including the opening seam allowance, this way it's much easier to sew closed after it's stuffed.

Here it is stuffed and whipped stitched closed.

I like to stuff my pincushions with crushed walnut shells, I usually buy a 5lb bag online as lizard bedding (that's what the bag reads) and then make a funnel out of card stock and fill the pincushion with it.

Here's a few pins in it! Finished pincushion is 5" x 5"

I love small blocks and it makes me want to either make a mini quilt or a BIG quilt but a bunch of mini blocks like these EQ sketches :)
This mini would be 20" x 25"

This would look great in solids or totally scrappy!
and I if I was rotary cutting this, I don't think I would ever try it, but with the dies it would be a snap!
This would be 45" x 60"

Hopefully this inspired you a bit!
Happy Quilting
Bea
