This month I designed a lovely throw quilt using the new GO! Companions sets-Angles for 12” blocks. Ice Crystals, our free project this month, features several of the new dies in the 12” size, along with an assortment of dies from the original GO! 12” Qube set. Our cool quilt features Wheat Field with Cypresses Fabrics from Anthology Fabrics.
This month AccuQuilt introduced a new GO! Qube™ Companion Set called Angles. They sent us a set to play with for this month’s free project. I have to say that the shapes that are included in the new Angles companion set are some of my favorite shapes to design with. So coming up with an idea for this month’s project was an easy task. The Color Blast pattern includes both die-cutting and traditional cutting instructions. The pattern is free and available from The Whimsical Workshop. How to make a quilt cool enough for summer? Well, Summer is here!!!!! Time to think about sunny days and beach vacations, cool drinks and summer nights. So to celebrate our next few months of warm weather with “Making Lemonade”.
Indigo is one of my favorite colors. It is bold yet dark and mysterious. Indigo can play the part of the background or take front and center in a project. For this month’s project I designed House of Blues and I wanted to make the dark Indigo color the star of the show. I used my AccuQuilt GO! Qube 6" Mix & Match Block to make this project quick and easy.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. To celebrate the month of love, I designed our little lovely quilt, “Dearest Heart”. It is the perfect size for a wall hanging or table topper. So let's celebrate the month of love with sweet projects, acts of kindness and lots of chocolate.
The Holiday season is upon us! Here at the Pridemore house, it means that my mother-in-law and husband will be making the most amazing sugar cookies from a very old family recipe. This is a tradition that they have been doing since Matthew was a very small boy. Last year was the first year I helped with the cookies as my mom-in-law was not up to standing for hours as they make them. So this year I will be ready with my new duty with my Sugar Cookies Apron.
Here at The Whimsical Workshop Studios, we design hundreds of patterns a year for a large number of clients. Every once in a while, one design will stand out as a favorite for me. This is the case with the Modern Melody Basics quilt we designed as a FREE pattern download for Henry Glass Fabrics. When I was sent the fabric collection to work with I thought about doing a Drunkard’s Path design and immediately planned on using my GO! Drunkard's Path-7" Finished die (55034) if we ever needed to make the quilt.
Fall is upon us and for people in Arizona that means the end of 100 degree days. Yah! So fall in Arizona can feel a lot more like spring does everywhere else. So this month to celebrate the cooler weather I decided to design a whimsical dragonfly table topper. I used a collection called Dragonfly Dance from Benartex Fabrics. This fabric has beautiful gold details to add elegance to the stunning artwork. I used my GO! Qube Specialty Set-Serendipity by Edyta Sitar to make the applique design and the pieced border.
Halloween is around the corner and it is time to break out the Spooky Décor. We are also so excited to share my husband, Matthew’s newest fabric collection, Booooville from Benartex. The collection features a panel with Gnarly the tree getting ready to go trick or treating with his ghost friends. So this month I used my GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block Set and my new GO! Qube 6” Companion set to create a sweet and spooky wall hanging using part of the panel for the center and the corners. I used all the new dies from the Companion set to create whimsical borders to go around the tree. This left eight extra ghost panels, so I used an assortment of dies and fabrics to create a matching set of four placemats.
I don’t know why, but I love Octopus! Perhaps it's because they have eight arms and some days I wish I did too so I could get more done. Maybe it is because they are smart animals that excel at creative problem solving, a daily requirement for my job. Whatever the reason is, when I saw “Come Dive With Me” from Windham Fabrics, I fell in love.
This month I used my GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block Set, and the GO! Big Snail's Trail 12” finish die to create a Table Topper for the 4th of July. I kept the project small so even the busiest of sewers can whip this up in time for the holiday!
It's Heidi from the The Whimsical Workshop and this month I used my GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block Set, and the GO! Fantasy Flowers die to create a whimsical tote just in time for summer. This happy tote is perfect to carry to the beach, craft fairs, shopping or just around town. I used the wonderful dies from the GO! Qube 6” block set for the background and then added a big beautiful daisy to the front to add a touch of whimsy to the bag.
This month I used the new GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block Set, to create a quilt using “Eggcellent Adventures” fabric collection from Fabri-Quilt. This is a very special group for me since I designed the fabric collection last year and have not had a chance to play with it. I always wondered what life would be like inside the coop. This fabric represents my imagination gone wild on this idea. I hope you enjoy your visit to the coop and get to know the “Stars of the Coop” this month.
Take a trip down the rabbit hole! This month I used the new GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block Set, to create a quilt using “Adventures in Wonderland” fabric collection from Windham Fabrics. This group is based on the original artwork from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland story. Which happens to be one of my favorite stories. I was drawn to this magical world full of whimsical characters. When I saw the line at quilt market, I knew I had to have it. So I bought the collection and was waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it.
Happy New Year! At the studio, we are getting back into the swing of things after a lovely couple of weeks of family and friends. If your home is like ours, it looks a bit bare after taking down the holiday decorations, though it is too soon for the bright spring décor I love to put out. So for this month’s project, I designed a soft runner to decorate the table and add a touch of color to our dining room.
To me, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. I love this time of year with the beautiful lights, gathering together with family & friends and the wonderful cool weather we experience here in the Phoenix! It is one of the few times in the year that we really need quilts to stay warm, so the timing is always perfect to break out my Christmas quilts. This month I designed a lovely Christmas Throw named “Christmas Wishes.” Now you may be thinking, it is a week before Christmas, how could I complete this quilt in time? Well the beauty of Christmas is that is comes every year. So now is the time to start planning for next year. This pattern would also work well in any color family, so you can make one for each season.
Who doesn’t like Black and White prints with a touch of color. This month’s quilt GO! Some like it Hot…Pink pays homage to this theme and to the wonderful film by the same name. I can just see Marilyn Monroe loving this quilt. I used hot pink instead of the traditional Red to spice it up a bit just like she did. You could also use Bright Blue, lime green or any other bright color to change it up a bit. We made this quilt using the AccuQuilt Go! Big Electric Fabric Cutter and Urban Scandinvain fabric from P&B Textiles.
