Behind the Seams Series: Joe N.’s Journey with AccuQuilt

Hey, quilters! As part of the Behind the Seams series, which features the creative endeavors of the TekBrands team, this is another creating journey from team member, Joe.

About Joe N.

Joe N. joined TekBrands two years ago as the livestream Events Director, and eventually became the Events Producer. He oversees the production of every AccuQuilt livestream event from beginning to end. Joe is involved with, to name a few responsibilities, establishing each show's theme, creating scripts, determining set designs and directing the show as it airs. Since he has spent much of his time behind a camera, Joe's form of creating provides others with the ability to start and continue their creative journeys.

Creating with AccuQuilt

Joe has been behind a camera for 17 years, creating a variety of fun and informative content for others. Part of this includes finding the right music to play in the background, which Joe has an ear for as an avid music fan and a musician. He won't show off any of his musical talents for just anybody, but Joe will demonstrate his juggling skills when asked, this time with GO! Comfort Grip Handles:

Although his passions lie in camerawork and listening to music while he creates, Joe is also a self-dubbed crafter. He enjoys working on crafting activities with his wife and children. These crafts expanded once Joe was introduced to AccuQuilt when he began working for the company.

"My wife has created scrapbooks for my three kids, so it was an easy transition to start using AccuQuilt dies for crafting projects," Joe explained. Some of the GO! Dies Joe's family has used include the GO! Gnome Die to create a banner (featured in the background on the "Wrap Up Your Holiday Projects" Trunk Show) and the GO! Flower Power by Sarah Vedeler Die to make a parrot costume for his daughter.

Quilting Is Educational

Joe doesn’t think of himself as a quilter, stating that he has "been quilting for zero years," but if he did start quilting, he would start with creating a Carpenter's Wheel project since he loves the look of the that block as well as "seeing all the different designs" for any quilting project shared on a show. However, he has been overwhelmed with how quilting produces such a warm, inviting and educational environment.

"I love being able to educate quilters through producing our livestream events," Joe began. "AccuQuilt provides plenty of free patterns. You can easily find one you like, pick out your fabrics and not be afraid to get started because AccuQuilt has plenty of videos and livestream events for inspiration and to help you learn."

Joe's overall takeaway from his creative journey has led him to a simple conclusion: "We all have creativity inside us. Find your niche and jump right in!" Yet even if Joe doesn't consider his "niche" to be quilting, it can be argued that during his time with TekBrands, Joe has solidified his membership in the AccuQuilt community.

Bonus Moment

While AccuQuilt does have plenty of educational resources, the AccuQuilt team also has a lot of fun while teaching others - and Joe likes to join in! Skip to the trunk show at 40:45 to see Joe help out while dressed as a cow:
