Christmas Table Topper

Hi it's Bea again from Beaquilter. I'm going to show you how to make this quick and easy Christmas table topper using the 8" Qube set and Companion Set.

I have made an X and + quilt before and was looking at the block design and thought I could easily make it with the Qube and instead of the block being 8" it's actually 10", so a Qube set doesn't HAVE to be used JUST for 8" blocks. Think outside the Qube box!! And this X and + block is so easy with the signature die from the Companion Set!

This runner measures 16" x 36"

Now this was my original sketch in EQ

I had picked out this bird Christmas fabric that I wanted to use up to create this Christmas table topper and then matched it with more traditional colors too.

You won't need much fabric at all ... about 3/4 yard of the main fabric and less than 1/4yd of the other 3 colors (green, white and red)

I started out by cutting out the 12 signature block pieces (shape 10) in the main blue birdie fabric and half of them are in reverse.

I planned on having the birds to be upside down on the the bottom half of the block so the runner is viewable from either side.

Cut out 12 of these (half in reverse)

Then I cut out the rest of the shapes for our Christmas table topper.

24 small triangles in green (shape 5)

12 small squares (shape 2) in white and 15 in red

It's easy to sew the signature blocks together for the X & + block, no trimming required!!

And a block is quickly sewn together.

I made 3 of these and sewed them together.

Then added a skinny green border (1" cut) and a wide blue border (3" cut).

I quilted curves on the main part of the quilt, left the inner border alone and then a lazy ribbon curve on the outer border. I quilted with a variegated Christmas thread.

Here you can see the variegated thread.

You can quickly make this Christmas table topper in a few hours!

Once the pieces are all cut out with the Qube and Companion Set, just sit down and sew and no more trimming!

Hope you like it and Merry Christmas!
