My friend Suzy is a very giving person.  I have always felt she gave more than I could ever do in return.  When learning how to quilt I quickly realized that the gift of a quilt is an emotional gift…. One from the heart.  You pick out the fabric carefully and pour your heart and soul into it.  I loved the entire process of this quilt, from the cutting to the actual quilting, what an experience, one that I want to replicate over and over!  One of the best parts was that my teenage daughter was excited to help. I hadn’t realized that even a scrappy quilt needed to be “designed.” She had fun picking out the patterned fabric and where it should be placed.

The tumbler is one of the most fun shapes to piece, and it is a great alternative to simple square patchwork. Give it a try!
