A Double Wedding Ring Quilt from Batiks!
Hi, it's Bea from beaquilter. I'm here to show you how the double wedding ring quilt die is NOT just for quilts but you can also make a round pillow easily with the die :)
-and it's QUICK!
To make this you'll need the 12 1/2" double wedding ring die #55258
and fabrics :)
I used scraps, but think about 1/2yd for the background and then less than a Fat Quarter for the rings.
I used scraps by Island Batik for my Double Wedding Ring Quilt Pillow.
You'll be making two complete circles!
I cut out the background first, 2 of the large center and 8 of the wedges.
It's important to follow the cutting directions insert that comes with the die and plan out the fabric placement!
I decided to make the rings on each side of the wedges the same but didn't start from the center of the ring and out, but instead started at the left and continued to the right with color placement, just using 3 different blues.
There are 16 rings total (each side of 8 wedges)
There are 8 ring sections without the corner squares and 8 WITH the corner squares.
Once the ring sections are made, sew the shorter ones to the wedges first.
Then, add the outer ring sections with the corner squares. Do you notice how the squares are the same fabrics as the bottom sections?!
I wasn't planning that, but continued with it just to see what it would look like!!
Then I sewed these to the center section. Here are two of them together.
It kind of looks like the rings are going in and out or woven around each other on the parts where the fabrics touch!
- so I TOTALLY meant to do that!! LOL
Then lay the two rings, right sides together and sew around, leaving an opening for turning.
Turn right side out and stuff TIGHTLY with fiber fill and whip stitch closed.

Hope you try it too, and have fun- don't be afraid of curves!! There are notches to help line everything up, it's super easy!
If giving this as a gift to a Bride and Groom, it would look nice with either appliqued letters or embroidered letters in the middle. You could use the alphabet die set!? Or, could make TWO pillows, one for EACH of them.
