Hi everyone, it is Connie from Freemotion by the River with another fast and easy tutorial featuring the 12" GO! Qube and also the new 12" Companion Set. You’ll find all kinds of quilting tutorials, quilt patterns, and other things on my blog.
The new 12" GO Qube Companion Set includes 3 dies that can be used separately or with the 12" GO Qube. I am really enjoying them and today I am sharing a pillow made with the Drunkard's Path die.

I don't know about you, but I never seem to have too many pillows. I have always liked the Drunkard's Path block, but it is a time-consuming block to cut out. When I used the Companion Drunkard's Path die I was finished in no time!

Purple Shadows Pillow
Finished size: 18 inches
GO! Fabric Cutter: GO! Fabric Cutter (55100S) or GO! Big Electric Fabric Cutter (55500)
GO! Cutting Dies:
GO! Qube Mix & Match 12″ Block (55778) Dies used: #2 –3 ½" Square, #8 - 3 ½" x 6 ½" Rectangle
GO! 12" Companion Set Dies used: #11 and #12 Drunkard's Path 6"
Materials Needed: Light Purple Batik - fat quarter
Dark Purple Batik print - 1/2 yard
18" x 18" piece of batting
18" pillow form
Cutting Instructions:
Light Purple 2 - #11 -Drunkard's Path (55470) 2 - #12 - Drunkard's Path (55470) 4 - #8 - Rectangle (55724) 2 - #2 - 3½" Square (55701)
Dark Purple Print 2 - #11 -Drunkard's Path (55470) 2 - #12 - Drunkard's Path (55470) 4 - #8 - Rectangle (55724) 2 - #2 - 3½" Square (55701)
Assembly: Sew with a 1/4" seam allowance.
Cut the rectangle shapes.

Cut the squares.

Cut with the Drunkard's Path blocks. Place the #12 Quarter Circle shape on top of the #11 Arc shape (looks like a L) - use the notches to help with the piecing.

Make 4 Drunkard's Path blocks.

Layout your pieces as shown in the diagram below and piece together.

Join the 4 Drunkard's Path blocks first and press the seams open.

Sew 2 rectangles together (one of each color) and add to the top and bottom. For the sides, add the square blocks and alternate the colors.

Your pillow is now ready to be quilted. Place the batting behind the pillow top and quilt as desired.

For my quilting I just did a straight stitch using #40 weight Fantastico, a variegated thread from Superior Threads.

- Cut two pieces of the light purple batik 18″ x 13″ for the pillow back. On each piece fold the 18″ side under ¼” and press.
- On one piece fold under ½” and top stitch it. On the other piece fold under 1″ and top stitch.
- Place the 1″ top stitched piece face down on the pillow top, then place the ½” top stitched piece face down on it.
- Line up the edges and stitch ¼” around the pillow.
- Turn right side out, press and insert the pillow form.
If you need help making the pillow backing I show photos of it on my Rosy Applique Pillow Tutorial.
Enjoy your beautiful pillow!
