Quick GO! Wonky Heart Valentine's Day Table Runner

Hi, it's Bea from Beaquilter.com again. I'm here to show you how to make this cute and fun table runner for Valentine's Day! It uses the GO! Wonky Heart-6" Finished die (55471) and a variety of red, pink and white fabrics.

Materials and Supplies

GO! Wonky Heart-6" Finished (55471)
GO! Qube Mix & Match 6" Block (55775)
- GO! Square-2" (1½" Finished) (Shape 2)
- GO! Half Square Triangle 1½" Finished Square (Shape 5)
- GO! Square on Point-2⅝" (2⅛" Finished) (Shape 6)

GO! Strip Cutter 2½" (2" Finished) (55017)

Fabrics

Fat Quarters of four different red fabrics (A-D)
½ yard of white
½ yard of binding fabric
Batting: 19" x 31"
Backing: 23" x 34"

Preparing Fabrics

Wonky Hearts: Cut a set of hearts from two of the reds (A and B)
Shape 6: Two each of the remaining reds (C and D)
Shape 5: Eight each of the remaining reds (C and D)
Shape 2: 11 each of all four reds

Constructing the Table Runner

Start with the Wonky Heart blocks according to the instructions on the packaging (or click here for block construction). For the on point block sections, sew a half square triangle (shape 5) on each side of your on point squares (shape 6).

Then sew two rows of 14 total 2" squares (shape 2) and two rows of eight total 2" squares. Refer to the finished design for color placement direction, but try to keep the rows alternating so that no two fabrics repeat next to one another. You may want to lay out the rows before you sew to ensure they won't repeat when sewn together.

Here are the finished heart blocks done with alternate heart fabrics and the on point blocks, two of each color combination.

I then sewed the four on point blocks into one 6" finished block. With that complete, I sewed the heart blocks to each side, making sure the bottom of the hearts point toward the center.

Then I added white inner borders:

2" x 18½" for the long sides
2" x 9½" for the short sides

Then I added the squares around it. The rows of 14 should be sewn first to the top and bottom of the quilt top. The shorter rows of eight can then be sewn to the shorter sides. It helps to lay out the blocks and have them alternate all the way around (A,B,C,D).

Then add the outer white borders:

2" x 24½" for the long sides
2" x 15½" for the short sides

I quilted curves on the squares and on point squares, an outline stitch on the hearts and a ribbon design on the white borders. That way each shape, especially the hearts, stood out.
