Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to flip your lid over AccuQuilt’s latest project dies – the GO! Bucket Hat and GO! Quilted Trucker Hat by Chris Marchini. With these dies by your side, you’ll soon be creating a wardrobe full of hats for yourself, family, friends and more. These hats are “sew” fun to make that you’ll want to just keep making them, so let’s jump right in and take a look!
GO! Quilted Trucker Hat by Chris Marchini
You may know Chris as the co-host of our Wednesday AccuQuilt Live shows, as Rose City Originals or from his active social media presence using the GO! Fabric Cutting System to create his Randomly Generated Quilt Blocks and Community Quilts, but Chris is also known for making his own shirts with matching quilted trucker-style hats. Our GO! Quilted Trucker Hat by Chris Marchini is now available to make it easy for all of us to create hats to match our outfits more quickly than you can imagine!

This one 10” x 24” die board has all the pieces on it to create the outer shell and lining to make your very own custom hats! Chis has provided simple, easy-to-follow directions for making a closet full of hats for us, and even joined me in AccuQuilt’s Dream Studio to film a tutorial showing how to create these fun hats with the die.
Besides making short work of cutting the hat pieces, the die cuts notches to make assembling it easier than you can imagine.
To make your hats you’ll need a few special products, including a foam stabilizer such as Sew Any Shape Foam, Ultra Firm Stabilizer (such as Pellon Peltex), hook & loop tape and June Tailor T-shirt Project Fusible Interfacing. June Tailor T-shirt Project Fusible is the perfect interfacing product to give your hat just a touch of stability while leaving it soft and flexible. This fusible comes packaged as a 58”/60” x 72” piece, so much larger than most fusible products giving you plenty to work with.

Imagine making fun hats for you and your family with novelty print fabrics that speak to what they love for gifts – but there are so many great materials to use that you’re sure to be inspired to keep making more and more. From using orphan quilt blocks to upcycling denim to even using water-resistant fabric, these hats are just plain fun to make and wear. Talk about a conversation starter!

For an extra bonus, the free, downloadable patterns available for using this die include ones for making smaller versions of the hat for children and teens!

GO! Bucket Hat
Who doesn’t need a good bucket hat? They’re perfect for anyone who wants to keep the sun off their face (and ears) and have a little added style at the same time. You’ll be blown away by how easy these are to cut and create, with no advanced sewing skills needed. This 10” x 24” die board will work with the GO! and GO! Big Fabric Cutters, and you can have the outer shell and inner lining cut with one pass each. The die actually cuts the notches for you, to make matching up and sewing these pieces together a breeze.
The basic hat is reversible, and as fun to wear as it is to create. The directions are simple and easy to follow, and you can also watch a tutorial video we made walking you through the process, step by step.
You will again want to use June Tailor T-shirt Project Fusible for giving your hat just the right amount of body and shape. Quilting cotton and batiks are just the beginning of the materials you can use to fashion these hats. These hats are a fun way to express creativity and to really stand out from the crowd! Upcycled materials and orphan quilt blocks are so fun for these, but don’t overlook adding embroidery, applique and cute trim and ribbons.

Be sure to add your embroidery and applique before starting to sew your hat to make it as easy as possible.

Beyond getting creative with the materials that you use to make your hats, you can get crafty with ways to gift them to others, too. They can make great table favors for a party – turn them right-side up on the center of each place or upside down and fill with goodies. Speaking of goodies, how fun would it be to use them like a basket to hold gifts? What about making them lined with super soft flannel or Cuddle for someone experiencing hair loss? What about selling them at a craft fair? The possibilities are practically endless.

We can’t wait to see all the hats you’ll create and all the different ways you’ll use them and gift them to others. So jump on the “hat wagon” and pick up both today – and here’s my tip, check out the bundles for a sweet deal!
Be sure to post pictures of your creations on social media using #AccuQuiltBuilt. I know we’ll all “flip our lids” over them!
