AccuQuilt and The Electric Quilt Company Join Forces to Provide Free Digitized Versions of GO!® Fabric Cutter Designs

Quilters download GO! Fabric Cutter shapes in digitized form to plan quilts in EQ7 software, then use AccuQuilt GO! cutter to cut shapes for quilts

(FREMONT, Neb., May 9, 2011) – To streamline design and creation of quilts, AccuQuilt, the world's leading maker of fabric cutters for quilting and fabric crafts, partnered with The Electric Quilt Company, the world's leading quilt design software company, to create free digitized shapes that match AccuQuilt GO!® dies. Consumers use the downloadable digitized shapes in state-of-the-art EQ7 software to design a quilt, then use matching GO! dies to cut fabric pieces for their quilt. It's the first time digitized shapes have been matched to AccuQuilt designs.

"This is a natural partnership, and we are pleased to be working with The Electric Quilt Company to solve a common quilt design challenge," said Lee Nakamoto, AccuQuilt's Orchestrator of Consumer Intelligence. "Until now, quilters had to create their own digital versions of GO! shapes if they wanted to design quilts on the computer. Now the shapes are at their fingertips in the amazing EQ7 software." According to Nakamoto, using digitized shapes with AccuQuilt GO! dies reduces design time.

Electric Quilt Company Digitized Shapes Include Popular AccuQuilt GO! Cutter Designs

AccuQuilt and The Electric Quilt Company worked together to select some of the most popular GO! die shapes. The Electric Quilt Company then digitized the shapes, and they are now available on the AccuQuilt website in two free downloadable packages, each with about 15 shapes. The first group of digital GO! shapes for EQ7 software includes Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam, animals, seasonal shapes, and the word "BABY." The second group of digital GO! shapes includes leaves, feathers, stems and many different flowers.

To download the free shapes, quilters simply visit the Patterns section of the AccuQuilt website (accuquilt.com/patterns), then select "EQ Library of GO! Shapes." The digitized shapes are added to the AccuQuilt online shopping cart and "purchased" for free. Once the purchase is completed, the buyer receives an order confirmation e-mail with instructions for downloading shapes and using them with EQ7 software. Buyers also can purchase matching GO! dies from the EQ library web pages.

AccuQuilt and The Electric Quilt Company plan to periodically release additional groups of digital shapes. GO!® fabric cutting dies, as well as the GO!™ Baby Fabric Cutter and GO!® Fabric Cutter are available at local quilt and fabric retailers. Quilters can also purchase them, along with the Studio™ Fabric Cutter and hundreds of Studio™ quilting dies, by visiting accuquilt.com or calling 888.258.7913.
