It’s that time of year, quilters! The temperature’s rising outside, but inside, I admit to hiding in my basement watching holiday movies and sewing! If you’re like me, now’s the perfect time to think ahead to the holiday season while you have plenty of time to make that holiday quilt you’ve been dreaming of, especially with new fabric turning up daily at your local quilt shop!
Now, I know that this level of advanced planning doesn’t come easily, so here are a few of my favorite GO! holiday quilts to spark your imagination. All the patterns are available as free downloads, so jingle your bells and come take a look.
A Festive Modern Classic
Just look at the stunning GO! Christmas Wishes Quilt, created with the GO! LeMoyne Star-9” Finished Die. This Block on Board (BOB) Die has all the pieces for the block on one die board! Shades of green set off the red blocks perfectly. The eye-catching border is easily created using the GO! Equilateral Triangle-4 1/2” Sides (4 1/4" Finished) Die. If you start now, you’ll have plenty of time to make more than one.
In the Mood for Applique?
The GO! Winter Bliss Quilt is one of my all-time favorite holiday patterns! I love the way partial snowflakes and holly create an adorable border. This quilt has the feel of a sampler, with fun rows of different designs. I would never even consider making this project without the dies, but with die cutting, it will be simply perfection - and quicker than you think! Take advantage of free, downloadable embroidery designs for finishing off all the festive shapes. This quilt’s a sure winner in my book!
Two Colorways, One Great Quilt
We love the GO! Winter’s Here Sampler Quilt so much that we’ve made two versions of it! Here, lovely blocks pieced with ease using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 12” Block are highlighted with some of our most popular holiday dies, like the GO! Reindeer and GO! Holiday Medley.
This pattern is so flexible, you can change the colors as we have, try out different blocks, and different applique shapes. Use a decorative stitch from your machine, use a straight stitch just inside the raw edge, or just quilt over the top.
Snowballs and Plaid
Create this wonderful plaid look combining the GO! Snowball-6” Finished Die with the GO! Qube Mix & Match 8” Block (or the GO! Value Die) for the GO! Snowball Fight Quilt. As complicated as it looks, you just need to how to sew a 1/4” seam to have success with this one.
Set the Scene for Winter
Get ready to celebrate the entire winter season with the GO! Qube 9” Nordic Winter Quilt. This modern take on the classic alpine look can make itself at home almost anywhere! This pattern is designed to use the GO! Qube Mix & Match 9" Block, but remember that every GO!
