Learn How to Make a North Carolina Starstruck Throw Quilt

For this throw quilt, I added sashing strips and pieced the cornerstones, which really amp up the details. This quilt finishes at 48 1/2” x 63 1/2”.

To make your own North Carolina Starstruck Throw Quilt, you'll need the following GO! Dies:

I designed this quilt using Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) Quilt Design Software. The GO! North Carolina Star block is included in the EQ8 Block Libraries in BOB Set 4. This is one of four sets of Block on Board (BOB) Block Libraries that you can use with EQ8 to design quilts that you can cut out with your GO! Fabric Cutter.

Sewing Instructions

This block has several pieces, so take the time to organize them before you start sewing. Make a note of those mirrored Shape C sets especially. The secret to this block is consistency and patience when piecing it together.

PRO TIP: Cut out an extra block to practice with to understand how it all goes together.

1. Using the colorway shown here, assemble the blocks.

This is definitely chainpiecing for days - and those accurate pieces go together so well! Make sure you carefully align the pieces so that they match perfectly.

Here are the quarter square triangles from Step 7 of the Block Assembly Instructions.

PRO TIP: When you sew the halves together, press the seam open to reduce bulk. Try to press seams open when you have four or more seams coming together.

PRO TIP: In Step 8, use pins to carefully align the seams before sewing. Careful pinning can save you a lot of time matching up seams and points.
