Introducing the GO! Qube® Mix & Match 16" Finished Block and Companion Sets

Are you ready for something big? The GO! Qube® family is getting “bigger” with the addition of our eighth size: the GO! Qube Mix & Match 16” Finished Block and Companion Sets Corners and Angles. 16? Now that’s big! What’s even bigger? You can use this new GO! Qube with either a GO! or GO! Big Fabric Cutter!

If you’re not familiar with the GO! Qube System, it’s really the core of what AccuQuilt is all about – making it easy and efficient for quilters to get creative creating their projects using basic geometric quilting shapes. The shapes in every GO! Qube Mix & Match Block from 4” to this new 16” size are exactly the same, just different sizes. Even better, when used together, you can create over 72 different blocks, and just like all its smaller “siblings”, this GO! Qube comes in a self-contained storage unit.

Think about the GO! Qube like “quilt by numbers.” The system is based on building four patch blocks (or a 2 x 2 grid) and if you sew four of the Shape 1 square together, it will finish to the size of that Qube. What does that mean for the new 16” size? It means that Shape 1 in this GO! Qube will be an 8½” cut, 8” finished square so that when 4 are sewn together, that block will finish to 16”!  All the elements in a GO! Qube are designed to work together, making it fun and easy to get creative with your designs.

The GO! Qubes' 8 shapes can form so many blocks!

When the GO! Qube System first launched, we thought being able to create 72 different blocks with the 8 dies in one box was pretty amazing stuff, but soon we discovered that quilters wanted more! More shapes to work alongside the original eight to provide even more options, ushering in the GO! Qube Companion Sets Corners and Angles. Each brings four more shapes and 72 more possible blocks to your quilting, and again each in their very own storage container, for a total of 216 different blocks, what a great value!

Five Reasons This Launch is “Sew” Exciting

Just in case you are wondering just why I am so very excited about the new 16” GO! Qube, let me share just a few reasons!

  1. The large size of these shapes makes them perfect for showcasing any scale of print fabric. From tiny dots to big, bold prints, any scale (or solid) will look stunning in this size.
  2. The larger scale blocks open up great “real estate” for adding applique and embroidery to pieced backgrounds – the best of all worlds.
  3. Start to finish, you can make a great size throw quilt in so little time that it will make your head spin! These lovely big shapes come together quickly and easily.
  4. Did I say they are easy to work with? Well, they are and they are perfect for beginning quilters.
  5. These dies will take any size stash and turn it into pieces for quilts faster than you can imagine. You’ve invested a lot in your fabric collection, it’s time to use it (so you can buy more!).

Each diamond is created by joining two Triangle in a Square units together to make a stunning 16” long diamond shape, perfect for showcasing fabric prints of any size. This quilt was designed and created for AccuQuilt by Katy Sweigart of Katy Quilts using 1930s reproduction prints, but it would be equally stunning with large scale prints.

GO! Wavy Stars Throw Quilt

Have no fear – the 3-dimensional curved look of this quilt is made without a single curved seam! The illusion of curves is created by with Triangle in a Square units from the GO! Qube 16” Companion-Angles and enhanced by setting all the blocks on point. The design of this quilt also shows how to combine shapes from different size GO! Qube Mix & Match blocks. This project was designed and created for AccuQuilt by Mary Anne Fontana of Fontana Originals using fabric from Island Batiks.

GO! Friendship Beads Thow Quilt

With friendship beads being all the rage these days, this quilt is the perfect way to celebrate that trend – and to use scraps or even a charm pack of 5” pre-cut squares. This is a great weekend project for you or early project for a tween or teen learning to sew!
