Welcome to February and National Embroidery Month! In honor of the month, I want to take some time to go over the basics of machine embroidery with AccuQuilt shapes and some of our newest designs.
It’s “Sew” Easy
Using AccuQuilt GO! Applique Dies makes creating adorable applique projects so easy and gives you perfect results. Just like everything we do at AccuQuilt, we’re always working to improve your creative experience, so let me show you how!
If you’re used to traditional machine embroidery applique, you know that it involves intricate fabric trimming with specialized scissors that’s not only time-consuming, but can leave you with a less-than-perfect-looking finished product. Using AccuQuilt, you simply fuse the wrong side of your fabric, place up to four layers of pre-fused cotton on your die with a cutting mat and cut. It’s quick, simple and gives you a perfect edge every time.
So, how does the machine embroidery work? Just like with other methods, the design will stitch out a placement stitch. You use that line to fuse your perfectly cut pieces in place. From there, your embroidery machine will do all the work for you. How great is that?
How to Get Started
At AccuQuilt, you’ll find an entire section devoted to machine embroidery designs. All non-designer applique shapes have basic outline embroidery in three stitches – satin, blanket and motif – available to download for free, but that’s just the beginning.
