Sewing

DSC09618

Join the two chisel pieces (Shape 9) together on the long edge.  Sew two of them.

DSC09621

Sew the Orange Rectangle (Shape 8) to the top of the Chisel units to form the carrot.

DSC09623

Fold the Green Square (Shape 1) in half with wrong sides together. Align the raw edges with the top of the carrot and stitch them together.

DSC09625

Press the seam down towards the orange carrot.  Top stitch 1/8" away from the seam.

Next, topstitch 1/2" - 3/4' from the seam on the green leaves which will form a casing.

DSC09626

Place the two carrot sections together with right sides together.  Stitch around the carrot leaving the opening at the top.  Backstitch when you start and stop at the top of the green leaves to secure the seams.  If you want to zig zag the seams or trim with pinking shears, you can.  Turn right side out.

DSC09627

Carefully clip one stitch within the casing in the side seam of the carrot to open it up.  You may find it easier to clip one stitch from the inside of the carrot.

DSC09629

Grab one length of ribbon and add a thin safety pin to assist with fishing it through the casing.  Starting on one side, thread the ribbon all the way around the carrot.  You may have to push it out and back in where the seam joins.  Tie a knot in the end.

Then starting on the other side with the other ribbon, fish it through all the way around the same way and knot the ends.  Then you can pull each side of the ribbon to gather the top of the carrot.

Your little Cutie Carrot drawstring bag is ready to be filled with goodies, from candy, small toys or books and games.  Making it for the garden club?  Fill it with seed packets, plant markers and a treat.

I used my GO! 6" Qube to make tiny carrots that I stuffed with leftover batting and used for decorations with my Easter bunnies, even cuter!

These are such a quick project, you can make up several in a jiffy.

We would love to see your Cutie Carrots!  Please share and tag AccuQuilt and Lori Miller Designs on Facebook and @AccuQuilt and @lorimillerdesigns on Instagram.
