Introducing the New GO! Star & Cross Block on Board® Die

We’re welcoming March with a simply outstanding Die to Try™ die, the GO! Star & Cross-10” Finished Block on Board® (BOB®) die.

With this die by your side, you’ll be creating stunning blocks in no time, no matter what your experience level.

This is a classic block that offers plenty of room for creativity to create both traditional and modern looks. The block, with its diagonal orientation within the block categorizes it as a Nine X block.

That diagonal orientation makes it an especially versatile block, giving you very different “looks” when set flat vs. set on point. Don’t worry, setting this block on point in your projects is easily done with the GO! Setting Triangles-10” finished die.

Let’s look at what makes this die so exciting to work with. For starters, it’s on a 6” x 24” die board, so that it will fit in any GO! Fabric Cutter, including the GO! Me. As a Block on Board (BOB) die, it’s designed to cut a 3-color, 10” finished block in just one pass through your cutter. Between screen printed letters on the die, specialized dog ears for perfect placement and easy-to-follow directions you’ll be creating picture perfect blocks quickly and easily.

AccuQuilt has put together great tools to help you get started working with this die.

  • Clear, easy to follow cutting and assembly directions on the die packaging

  • Free, downloadable Block Assembly Directions – including a coloring page for planning your blocks – available on the GO! Star & Cross product page on our website

  • Video tutorial on making the project featured on the packaging also be found on the product page

  • Brand new, free patterns using this captivating new die

You’ll soon find added value in this die by playing with shape placement and its unique shapes and sizes as you create fun, new looks above and beyond the standard block.

GO! Modern Star and Cross Wall Hanging

The GO! Modern Star and Cross Wall Hanging really shows off this stunning block, and is a perfect example of how classic blocks can be made to look fresh and modern simply by changing up the fabric and color selections. While these blocks are set flat in standard rows, that internal diagonal really pops in the white, giving the look of an on point setting.

The GO! Modern Star and Cross was designed by Suzy Webster of Webster Quilts.

GO! Bright Spark Table Runner

Okay, how fun is this block combination? The GO! Bright Spark Table Runner pairs the GO! Star and Cross-10” finished with the GO! Alabama Beauty-10” finished die. I love the “play” between the different diagonals both straight and curved. This would make a fantastic looking table setting, but it would also look lovely on top of a buffet or hutch as well.

The GO! Bright Spark Table Runner was designed by Amanda Harward of Larkspur Quilts using Northcott Fabrics.

GO! Spring Stars Spring Throw Quilt

The GO! Spring Stars Sprung Throw Quilt welcomes the season by matching not one but two Block on Board dies up with the GO! Star and Cross – the GO! Mosaic #4 and GO! Rising Star. The design radiates out from the center, with the diagonals within the GO! Star and Cross block creating the framework for the other blocks. I think this stunner could be made to match any season or décor by changing out the colors. Think about changing the pink and yellow for some sea glass tones of blue and green for a beachy feel, or maybe going modern with shades of gray and black joining the bright pink! You’ll probably need to make more than one!

The GO! Spring Stars Throw Quilt was designed by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting with Moda fabric.

GO! Spring Parade Throw Quilt

This just might be my favorite quilt yet! Take a minute and soak in the design elements in this quilt. By setting the GO! Star and Cross blocks on point, a distinct nine-patch appears in the center of each block, with the fabric colors creating a gingham effect. These blocks are alternated by blocks – and partial blocks – made using the trapezoid (Shape 16) from the GO! Qube 10” Companion Set-Angles and small half square triangle (Shape 5) from the GO! Qube Mix & Match 10” Block. This has some real “wow” factor in my book!

The GO! Spring Parade Throw Quilt was designed by Ellen Ault of Handmade3D using Robert Kaufman fabrics.

All these patterns are available as free downloads on our website and all are available in GO! Quilt, AccuQuilt’s free color design tool to help you re-imagine them in any color or fabric you wish before you make your first cut.
